Judd Goldich admits that he went to a lot of JUF events "to meet a girl." So, when one of his friends was named a 36 Under 36 honoree in 2013, he was excited to attend the annual WYLD Summer Party at the now-shuttered Howells & Hood.
"A girl came up to my friend who he knew from college, and she had a friend with her who was Tiffany, my future wife," Judd recounted. "I introduced myself and shared that I was from Skokie. Tiffany was from Skokie, too."
"We were the same age, our birthdays are actually within a day of each other, we had mutual friends, grew up less than a mile from one another, and somehow had never crossed paths," Tiffany added. Judd attended Hillel Torah and Ida Crown Jewish Academy, while Tiffany attended public school in Skokie.
The duo was inseparable for most of the evening and Judd made sure to get her phone number before saying goodnight. "He was tall, cute, and well-spoken. I also remember he shook my hand really hard," Tiffany remembered, laughing.
They went on to date for several years until they returned to Howells & Hood in 2016.
"I told Tiffany that we should go back to the bar to celebrate our three-year meeting anniversary, but I had organized to have our close friends and family waiting there to surprise her. Then, I proposed," Judd said. "She said, 'yes.'"
After a short four-month engagement, Tiffany and Judd got married. Today, they have three children and have returned to Skokie to raise their family.
While navigating dating life can be daunting for many young adults, both Tiffany and Judd offer encouragement to singles.
"Keep going to events because you never know the occasion or situation where you will actually meet someone," Judd said. "Put yourself out there and don't lose hope."
