At just 4 years old, Zoey Deutch decided what she wanted to be when she grew up--an actress.
The young girl was especially inspired while watching her mother, legendary actress Lea Thompson, perform in the 2000 revival of
Cabaret
on Broadway.
Deutch is now on stage, herself, portraying Emily Webb in the much-anticipated revival of Thornton Wilder's 1938 Pulitzer Prize-winning play,
Our Town
. She first read the play at 13, and a copy has sat on her nightstand ever since. For the actress, this role is the "dream of her life."
Deutch began her career at age 15, playing Maya Bennett on Disney
Channel's Suite Life on Deck
. On the big screen, she has appeared in a wide array of films, including
The Outfit
,
Not Okay
,
Something From Tiffany's
,
Buffaloed
,
Zombieland: Double Tap,Set It Up
, and
Juror #2
.
Judaism has also played a major role in Deutch's life from an early age. "[Being Jewish is] so embedded in [my] DNA," she told the
Jewish Journal
. I very much feel pride in my Jewish heritage and culture."
