She was ‘everybody’s cheerleader’

Unlike most of us, Gail Barbara Feingold never required an alarm clock. Feingold--who died on January 2 at age 72--loved her job working in JUF's mailroom so much that she woke up every day like clockwork for 28 years, eager to get to work. As her sister Sharon Ranzino put it, "Gail understood work ethic."

In addition to her conscientiousness, Feingold's friendly demeanor was ever-present as she delivered mail and packages to her JUF colleagues. "She gave unconditional love and received unconditional love," Ranzino said. "She was everybody's cheerleader."

If she could have, she probably would have worked forever, but Feingold ultimately retired in 2018 for health reasons.

Proudly Jewish, she loved working in the Jewish community and had Jewish touchpoints throughout her lifetime, from her employment training through Jewish Vocational Service to living out the last part of her life at CJE SeniorLife's Robineau Residence.

"Gail reminded me every day that everyone has something to contribute to the greater good," said Ann Ledajaks, who served as her supervisor at JUF. "She had a large heart, a positive attitude, and she genuinely loved JUF."

While Feingold never had her own children, she was a surrogate mother and grandmother to her eight nieces and nephews, and to her grand nieces and nephews, just some of the many people she inspired along the way.

"The most amazing thing," Ranzino said, "is the number of people that Gail touched in her lifetime."

Gail Barbara Feingold was the beloved daughter of the late Harvey and the late Laura Feingold; the loving sister of Gary (Edward Tuder) Belkin, Jerald (Jackie) Feingold, Marla (Alan) Giblichman, and Sharon (Vince) Ranzino; the dear aunt of Farrah Ranzino, Valerie Ranzino, Charles Ranzino, Stacey (William) Hoffman, Cori (Matt) Agase, Emma (Tyler) Sterrett, Ben Knight, and Jordan (Barbie) Knight; and the beloved great aunt to many.
